Festival Tryout Registration is now OPEN! 

PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION IN ITS ENTIRETY.  We have taken the time to answer most questions you might have.

The USA Field Hockey National Field Hockey Festival is in its 100^th year!  Festival has long been the premier recruiting event for athletes looking to play at a collegiate level.

We will be taking one team each in U14, U16, and U19 team to the event.

 

Tryouts will be held on August 28^th in the afternoon.  Field/location is still being confirmed.  We will publish that information as soon as it is available.  There is a tryout fee of $25.  At this time we do not have a makeup date scheduled.  There is a form field in the registration asking if you can make the tryout date.  If you CANNOT, please just answer “no” here.  No need to email.  We will contact those who indicate they cannot attend closer to the date.

 

You do not need to select your age group; the registration system will route you accordingly.  If you were a U16 this year, for example, you are still eligible to be a U16 until January 1.  Please do not ask if your child can play up an age group at this time; we will make those decisions post tryout.

Festival cost is $450 per player.  This is a very modest increase from last year.  Everything has gone up in price, including the team fee from USAFH, and we must adjust accordingly.

If selected, we will require a $150 non refundable deposit within 7 days.  Last year we had several players drop late; we will no longer be offering refunds.  We will have payment plans available.

 

What does my team fee include?

Team fee includes practices, the team registration fee, team video (available to every player – professional video for use in highlight videos), and coach travel costs.

 

What costs can I expect to pay?

Players are responsible for their own food, travel and lodging costs.

 

USA FIELD HOCKEY EVENTS ARE STAY TO PLAY.  This means we must book a certain percentage of rooms for our teams via a group booking link or we FORFEIT the games.

The hotels we are considering are roughly $160-170 a night and typically include two queen beds (subject to availability).

Can I room with someone else to save money?  Yes.  USAFH requires a percentage, not 1:1.

What if I have hotel points?  USA FIELD HOCKEY IS STAY TO PLAY.  We cannot advise you otherwise.

Can I rent an Air BnB?  USA FIELD HOCKEY IS STAY TO PLAY.  We cannot advise you otherwise.

Please help us stay compliant with stay to play and retain our team eligibility.

 

Festival Competition Dates/times:

 

Thursday, November 24: 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. ET
Friday, November 25: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. ET
Saturday, November 26: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET

 

We will not receive a final schedule until likely a week or two before the event.

We ask families to play their travel around “worst case scenario” AKA a 7 am game Thursday and a 5 pm game Saturday.

 

Please note we DO compete on Thanksgiving.

 

How do I get there?

We tend to have a mix of families who choose to fly and rent a car and families who drive.  There is NO group transportation; if you fly, you will need to secure your own transportation to/from games.

 

If I fly, how does my equipment get there?

You can check most equipment, including goalie gear.  In the past, we have bundled multiple player’s equipment together to reduce fees.  We have also sent equipment with families who are driving and have space.

 

Who will be coaching?

Confirmed coaches at this time are Drew Moffett and Jen Zuck.  Other coaches are still being confirmed pending availability.

 

When and where will practices be?  Practices will be on Sunday afternoons, likely at Smyrna Middle School.  Field availability has not yet been confirmed.  We will start practices in late October.
